FATES – T.dohrnii Ships

Conceptual art image with Mar Chileno background and super Hydrozoa

In this near future, the surface is too hot to live and humans must find ways of preserving life without killing life, in the ocean. With ever-increasing water temperatures, few species are naturally equipped to evolve, yet this particular family of hydrozoa jellyfish has been silently invading our seas. By harnessing the help of giant Turritopsis dohrnii, immortal jellyfish, to transport us and incubate us, we find a solution. At journey´s end, the human cargo is expelled, causing the T.dohrnii to revert to polyp stage and begin its life cycle once more.

With the help and participation of Dr. Sophie Clayton, Assistant Professor of Ocean, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences.
